The United Aerial Firefighters Association (UAFA) has publicly expressed its support for Wildfire Water Solutions (WWS) in a newly released letter. This endorsement follows a joint statement issued by UAFA and the NWSA in January, calling for urgent congressional action to address the growing wildfire threat.

UAFA's letter highlights the critical role WWS plays in achieving comprehensive community protection in fire-prone areas. The UAFA recognizes the urgent need to protect the over 44 million U.S. homes at risk in the Wildland Urban Interface and emphasizes that investing in prevention is crucial for safeguarding lives and livelihoods.

WWS offers a range of innovative solutions that directly address the challenges of wildland firefighting, including:

  • Portable Water Conveyance: Industrial/utility scale continuous water supply chain, capable of moving up to 150,000 gallons per hour from sources up to 50 miles away.
  • Full Cycle Water Management: Recapturing, recycling, and desalinating water for prevention, suppression, and consumption.
  • Water Storage: Semi-permanent storage solutions ranging from 3,000 to 3,000,000 gallons.
  • Fire Expertise & Certification: Decades of experience in wildland firefighting and certified crews prioritizing command and safety.
  • Community Scale Defense: Mobile and modular pipelines designed to augment existing water systems, provide protective fronts, and support both ground and aerial firefighting operations.

The UAFA letter underscores how WWS benefits firefighters by providing a continuous, uninterrupted water supply chain, maximizing the effectiveness of existing firefighting assets. Furthermore, the ability of WWS to create remote ridgeline dip sites for helicopters is hailed as a "game-changer," increasing both productivity and safety for aerial firefighting operations.

"Started by firefighters for firefighters," the UAFA letter states, "their dedication to responsible and sustainable water sourcing practices, and commitment to insuring those who risk their lives on the ground and in the air have the critical water needed to scale in the fight against wildfire, is a valuable resource for the firefighting community." The UAFA concludes that this "new style of high-volume water delivery and community defense system in the wildland-urban environment is critical and will significantly enhance the effectiveness and safety of aerial firefighting operations."
